AIDAN OF LINDESFARNE

Aidan was Bishop of Clogher, Ireland. He resigned the see to became a monk at Iona around 630 AD.  Was an evangelizing bishop in Northumbria, England at the behest of his friend the king, Saint Oswald. Pagans attacked Oswald‘s forces at Bambrough by piling wood around the walls of the city to burn it; Saint Aidan prayed and a change in wind blew the flames over the ensuing army.
